The West Coast Dailies on CAMD

Tomorrow there will be a Sunday Calendar feature on CAMD in the LA Times as well as a review in the San Francisco Chronicle. This is the first time the SF Chron has reviewed one of my books. It was worth the wait. The two also offer a contrast between photography at a flattering angle with really great lighting and….Well.

More CAMD Press

Wow. I am so overwhelmed and grateful for the press this book has received. I think (hope) it means that parents are really fed up with the increasingly narrow choice of feminine images that are presented to our ever-younger daughters. I hope this also raises the profile and helps the great work of Girls Leadership Institute, SPARK, Project Girl, Pigtail Pals, Hardy Girls Healthy Women, Girl Scouts, Girls, Inc., The Geena Davis Institute and all the advocates working on behalf of girls! Myla Goldberg (a fellow Obie and novelist I adore, though have never met her) reviewed CAMD on Slate. Another Obie (again, younger–never met) Liz Logan, interviewed me for Make it Better, a publication serving Chicago’s North Shore communities. She’s also doing a piece for the Oberlin Alumni Magazine which is the coolest thing EVER! And maybe just one teen-tiny notch down from being profiled for my college’s alum [...]

On CNBC, Talking to Wall Street

Another slice on the princess story….

CAMD on “Salon”

I had such a good chat with Mary Beth Williams for Salon. She is really, really, REALLY smart.

Major Girl Crush on Rachel Simmons

Rachel is the author of the brilliant  Curse of the Good Girl, Odd Girl Out, and founder of the Girls Leadership Institute. She was kind enough to interview me for her blog.

Diane Rehm Show!

Here’s a link to my appearance on the Diane Rehm show. She was SO warm and wonderful!

Does Your Eight-Year-Old Have Wrinkles?

Just in case you’re interested in why I wrote my book: roughly half of 6-9 year olds regularly wear lipstick or gloss; the percentage of 9-12 year olds wearing mascara or eyeliner has doubled since 2008. 8-12 year old girls now spend $24 million a year on makeup. No wonder Walmart has just launched a new makeup line just for them–with anti-aging properties!!!  Here’s a link to a “Good Morning America” story.

Feeling Pressed!

Wow. There have been so many posts and clippings about the book I have not been able to keep up!!! Here are a few: A Q&A I haven’t even been able to read yet from The Washington Post Express A swell Q&A with  Parent Dish A lovely write-up by Jessica Bennett of Newsweek Great piece by Erin Zammett Ruddy from Parenting A Q&A with Livescience.com (GO GIRLS IN SCIENCE! My baby girl geologist ROCKS!) Ooo. Another one: ivillage

Snow, Snow, Go Away….

How hardy are New Yorkers? I hope you guys will come out tonight (Barnes & Noble, 82nd & Bway 7 pm) for a reading and discussion of CAMD. What the heck, you know? Not like you have to drive…..

Today Show Web Exclusive

Here’s the web exclusive interview I did between the two Today show segments. I haven’t watched it–way too weird to watch yourself on video==but maybe you can and tell me about it.
